Each athlete brings a unique skillset to the rink, and our coaches work to develop that particular player within the team concept. OHA Edmonton’s coaches also share an incredible passion not only for player development, but for personal development as well.
RANDALL WEBER- GENERAL MANAGER
Randall Weber played his minor hockey years in Leduc, AB. After moving to the UK as a child, he would go on to play 17 years of professional hockey in England with the Nottingham Panthers. Weber would make an impressive 845 appearances for the Panthers, which remains a club record to this day. When he retired, the Panther’s retired Weber’s jersey. In addition to his time with the Panthers, Weber also played on the Great Britain National team in 1998 at the IIHF World Championship.
Since retiring, Weber has worked in hockey in a variety of capacities – from directing, operating and instructing the Edmonton Oilers Hockey Schools, to coaching Major Midget AAA and operating his own hockey development company. Through it all, Randall has gained over 24 years of coaching and managerial experience, and was named the Alberta Midget Hockey League Coach of the Year in 2014.
Weber has been OHA Edmonton since its inception in 2015.
SEAN BEISSEL- ASSISTANT GENERAL MANAGER, ASSISTANT COACH
Sean Beissel has over 30 years of experience as a coach and manager, including 8 years as the Academic & Athletic Development Director of Operations at Donnan School in Edmonton. Additionally, Beissel spent 2 seasons as the Head Coach of the Fort Saskatchewan Midget AAA team and 7 seasons as the Director of Hockey Development and Midget AAA Head Coach with the Sherwood Park Kings Athletic Club. Beissel has also spent four seasons in the AJHL in various capacities.
Sean has run his own Hockey Skill Development program and has been the Director of Operations for the OHA/Oilers Hockey School since 2016. At OHA Edmonton, Beissel was the U15 Prep Head Coach for 6 years before transitioning into his current Assistant General Manager role.
Beissel has been with OHA Edmonton since 2016.
JASON CHIMERA- HEAD COACH, U18 FEMALE PREP
Jason Chimera’s hockey career began with a three-year stint in the Western Hockey League, laying the foundation for an illustrious 18-year professional career. His achievements on the ice include representing Team Canada and earning silver in the 1997 World Juniors, as well as capturing gold in the 2007 World Championship and silver again in 2008. In the NHL, Jason’s accomplishments include winning the Presidents Trophy twice and playing an impressive 1107 games.
Transitioning to coaching, Jason has demonstrated his dedication and skill in guiding young athletes. His coaching experience spans various levels, including leading the U15AA Pandas Black in the AFHL and coaching teams in the Alberta Warrior Female Spring program. Jason has also been instrumental in developing young talent as head coach for various HSL teams, including the 2010 AAA and Major teams. Chimera’s passion for the game, combined with his extensive experience and commitment to player development makes him the ideal leader for our U18 Female Prep team.
Chimera joined OHA Edmonton in 2023.
DUNCAN MILROY- HEAD COACH, U18 PREP
Edmonton native Duncan Milroy comes to OHA after an extensive playing career. Milroy followed his junior career with the Swift Current Broncos and the Kootenay Ice in the WHL, with a professional career at both the NHL & AHL levels. His professional career saw him play with Montreal, Minnesota, Hamilton, Houston, and Europe before retiring to the Edmonton area.
Since retiring, Duncan has grown his coaching career – spending two years in the U18 AAA league here in Alberta. Along with working various development camps with the Edmonton Oil Kings, Duncan has also been heavily involved with Hockey Alberta.
Milroy joined OHA Edmonton in 2023.
JAY HENDERSON- HEAD COACH, U17 PREP
Jay Henderson played professional hockey for over 13 years – he was drafted to the NHL in 1997 by the Boston Bruins, playing 33 games with the club. From there, Henderson would spend 8-years in the AHL, during which he was a 3-time American Hockey League Calder Cup Champion. Henderson would wrap up the last 5 years of his professional career with in the German Elite Hockey League (DEL), the Austrian Elite Hockey League (EBEL), and the English Elite Hockey League (EIHL).
Since retiring as a player, Henderson has held numerous Assistant and Head Coach roles for Hockey Alberta, including coaching in the Alberta Cup multiple times. Henderson would also spend 2 years in the WHL as an Assistant Coach for the Kootenay. Jay’s experience with working for and with many great organizations, allow him to bring a high-quality level of experience to OHA.
Henderson joined OHA Edmonton in 2022.
DARRYL WEINBERGER- HEAD COACH, U17 AND EDUCATION COORDINATOR
Darryl Weinberger’s extensive coaching history includes three seasons as an Assistant Coach with the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings, two seasons as an Assistant Coach with the WHL’s Edmonton Ice and six seasons as Head Coach of the Fort Saskatchewan Rangers Midget AAA team. As a player, Weinberger had a successful career, winning the ACAC championship and a silver medal at nationals with the Red Deer College Kings in 1989.
Weinberger has been with Vimy Ridge Academy since 2010 and has been the Assistant Principal since 2013. Weinberger graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Physical Education and Recreation Sports Studies, as well as an Education Certificate from the Faculty of Education.
EHREN MENARD- HEAD COACH, U15 PREP
Ehren Menard has spent the last 10 years honing his coaching skills. He has been with the Knights of Columbus (KC) Hockey Club since 2015, serving as Head Coach at the U15 AAA, U16 AAA, and U18 AAA levels. During his time at KC, he has also carried the roles of Director of Hockey Operations, Director of Player Development, and Director of Coach Development. In 2020, Menard worked as an assistant coach with the Cranbrook Bucks of the BCHL.
As a player, Menard competed in the SIJHL, AJHL, and TBJBHL. In 2024, he became part of OHA Edmonton, bringing his extensive experience to the program.
ERIC SCHNEIDER- HEAD COACH, U15
Eric Schneider’s playing experiences at the junior, university and professional levels has allowed him to connect and guide developing student-athletes through their own hockey journeys. Schneider’s Jr career included stops in the WHL with the Tri-City Americans and in the BCHL with the Powell River Kings. During his university days with the University of Calgary, Schneider was named the CIAU Rookie of the Year. Schneider would go on to have a 15 year professional career, playing in the AHL, ECHL and included 10 years in the DEL.
After retiring as a player, Schneider returned to his home town of Drayton Valley and turned his focus to coaching. He has coached multiple teams at the U15 and U18 levels and spent 4 years as the Assistant Coach/Head Scout for the Drayton Valley Thunder in the AJHL.
Schneider joined OHA Edmonton in 2023.
KENDRA ROSYCHUK- ASSISTANT COACH, U18 FEMALE PREP
Kendra Rosychuk served as Mission Staff with Team Alberta at the 2023 North American Indigenous Games, showcasing her commitment to excellence in Indigenous sports. She achieved Bronze as a coach at the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship in 2023 and has secured Gold and Bronze at the Alberta Native Hockey provincials in 2022 and 2023, respectively.
Kendra has volunteered with Hockey Alberta, coaching at U18 Female Summer Camps and serving as a guest coach, demonstrating her leadership and coaching abilities. Kendra’s involvement with the National Aboriginal Hockey Championship as a member of the coaching staff for U18 Female Team Alberta further highlights her expertise in team building, coaching, and player development. Kendra holds a Bachelor of Sport Management with Honours from Brock University.
Rosychuk joined OHA Edmonton in 2024.
DAVE COOPER- ASSISTANT COACH, U18 FEMALE PREP
David Cooper brings a wealth of experience as both a player and a coach. His coaching philosophy centers around building a winning team and fostering a positive team culture. With experience coaching at various levels, including the Edmonton Female Pandas Black U15 AA and U13 SWAT, David understands what it takes to develop players and achieve success on the ice.
Throughout his career, he has cultivated a deep understanding of what it takes to build a winning team and foster a positive team culture. He believes that success on the ice is not only about individual skills but also about creating a cohesive unit that works together towards a common goal. His coaching philosophy revolves around holding players to high standards while providing the necessary support and guidance to help them reach their full potential. One of his core strengths lies in his ability to connect with players on a personal level and bring out their strengths.
Cooper joined OHA Edmonton in 2024
BRENNAN EVANS- ASSISTANT COACH, U18 PREP
Brennan Evans played for his home town Camrose Kodiaks in the AJHL before moving on to play 4 years in the WHL with the Seattle Thunderbirds and Kootenay Ice. During his time in the WHL, Evans would win both the WHL Championship and the Memorial Cup, both with the Kootenay Ice in 2002.
Following his Jr career, Evans played professionally for 13 years in the NHL and AHL, competing in almost 900 games. While in the AHL, Evans would win the Calder Cup with the Grand Rapids Griffins in 2013. During his career, Evans has played for multiple current NHL Head Coaches, learning from them along the way. Since retiring Brennan has been honing his coaching skills, teaching on ice skills and development in the Edmonton area.
Evans joined OHA Edmonton in 2023.
TREVOR BAKER- ASSISTANT COACH, U17 PREP
Trevor Baker played minor hockey in Edmonton and Jr A in Alberta. From there, Baker played in the WHL with the Prince Albert Raiders before moving on to the ECHL with many stints in the IHL, AHL UHL, and the EIHL in England. Baker played a total of 9 years professional hockey, including 2-years as team captain with the Peoria Rivermen.
Since retiring Baker has worked as a skill development coach and advisor. Baker enjoys in helping in the development of OHA student-athletes, and passing on his knowledge and skill.

LANCE MCFADDEN- ASSISTANT COACH, U17
Lance McFadden has always had a passion for hockey – first as a player and then as a coach. A native of New Brunswick, McFadden played his minor hockey in the province. His minor hockey career would be finished off in style with a NBIAA Provincial High School Championship. Instead of continuing to Junior, McFadden instead opted to focus on his education, attending New Brunswick Community College. His passion for the game would not allow him to step away for long – he would start his coaching career in 2002 before to returning to playing in 2005.
After relocating to Edmonton in 2008, McFadden would return to coaching in 2011 and has coached from Initiation to Bantam ever since. With his positive approach, team first atmosphere, and ability to build great relationships with his players, he offers a great environment for development and the ability to have fun.
McFadden joined OHA Edmonton in 2022.
TOM KECA- ASSISTANT COACH, U15
Tom Keca has 17 years of coaching experience in the AJHL, both as a Head Coach and an Assistant Coach with the Lloydminster Bobcats and the Fort McMurray Oil Barons. With hockey experience in Canada and Europe, Tom has acquired the insight and knowledge to contribute to the success of the OHA program. Tom’s coaching experience with U15 through to the junior levels will allow him to support our student-athletes along their development path.
Keca brings a high-quality level of accountability and experience that fall in line with the philosophies of OHA.
Keca joined OHA Edmonton in 2023.
JASON STRUDWICK- ASSISTANT COACH, U15
Born and raised in Edmonton, Jason Strudwick brings a wealth of experience at the highest levels of hockey. Strudwick played for 2 years in the WHL with the Kamloops Blazers before transitioning to the NHL. Strudwick’s professional career spanned 17 years, including 14 years in the NHL. Since retiring, Strudwick hosted his own radio sports talk show in Edmonton. Strudwick is also the co-host of the TSN Jason Gregor Show.
Strudwick joined OHA Edmonton in 2024.
KURTIS MUCHA- GOALIE COACH
Kurtis Mucha saw success as a goaltender at both the WHL and University levels. Mucha holds the WHL record for most career games played (245), is second in career minutes played (13,708) and third in most career saves (6,908) after spending five seasons with the Portland Winterhawks and Kamloops Blazers. He would follow this with a stellar five-year career as a student athlete at the University of Alberta, which saw him win two U SPORTS National Championships and be named the recipient of the 2013 U SPORTS Goaltender of the Year award.
Mucha has worked as a Goaltending Development Coach with the WHL’s Edmonton Oil Kings since 2015. He has also served as the Goaltending Consultant for the AJHL’s Spruce Grove Saints and Sherwood Park Crusaders.
DWAYNE LAING- MANAGER OF ATHLETIC THERAPY
Dwayne has been an athletic therapist for nearly two decades. In that time, he has traveled the world with various teams and sports. Since growing up in Edmonton through the 80’s, hockey has always been a passion of his. Dwayne has been with OHA Edmonton since the beginning, both as an athletic therapist and strength coach. Throughout his career, Dwayne has had a keen interest in training youth athletes. It is the reward of challenging their athletic development, as well as the students and citizens that keeps him coming back year after year.
When he is not at the rink, Dwayne is also the athletic therapist at Harry Ainlay High School. He works with their many championship teams along with their Sports Performance, Sports Medicine and Physical Education classes. In his rare spare time, you can find him spending time enjoying the outdoors with his wife and three kids.
